Central, which matters more than it sounds
Most storage sits on the edge of a city where land is cheap, which is fine until you need something out of it on a Tuesday evening. This facility is in the middle of Tucson. That is the difference between collecting a box on the way home and setting aside an afternoon.

Cooled units and drive-up units
About 66 of the units here are air cooled, in an indoor building held in the mid to upper 80s through the summer by evaporative coolers. The rest are drive-up, which cost less and are easier to load because you park at the door.
Which you want depends entirely on what is going in. A closed metal unit in the Tucson sun can pass 120 degrees on a July afternoon and drop sharply overnight, and it is that daily swing that loosens furniture joints, curls photographs and kills batteries. Patio furniture, tools and sealed totes will not care. Anything wooden, electronic, paper or leather will.
There is no premium charged for a cooled unit, which is why they are usually the first to go. Worth asking about when you call rather than when you arrive.
Security and access
The property is gated with keypad entry, covered by cameras around the clock, and has overnight security on site. You get your own access code. Gate hours run longer than office hours, so you are not tied to when someone is at the desk.

Sizes, and how to pick one
Units run from 5×5 up to 10×30, with a spread of unusual sizes in between that never make it onto a website. As a rough guide:
- 5×10 A dorm room or studio: boxes, a mattress set, a few small pieces.
- 10×10 A one-bedroom flat, including a sofa, bed and dresser.
- 10×15 A two-bedroom home, or one with appliances and larger furniture.
- 10×20 A three-bedroom house, roughly a single garage.
- 10×30 A full move, or business inventory and equipment.
Guessing large is the expensive mistake. Call and describe what you have, and Janet will tell you what it fits in.
Who uses it
Downtown residents and small businesses, mostly for overflow and stock. University of Arizona students between semesters, particularly over the summer. And people mid-move, who take the truck and the unit in the same trip because the site is a U-Haul dealer.
